The Washington Huskies women’s softball team received two Big Ten weekly awards on Mar. 30, following a successful four-game road trip that extended their winning streak to 20 games, according to a conference announcement.

These recognitions highlight the performances of Sophia Ramuno, named Co-Pitcher of the Week, and Kaycie Burdick, awarded Freshman of the Week. Their contributions were key during Washington’s Midwest road trip.

Ramuno secured two wins last week with a shutout at Loyola Chicago and contributed to a combined no-hitter at Iowa. In her appearances, she recorded an earned run average of 0.00, a WHIP of 0.60, and held opponents to a .079 batting average over 11.2 innings pitched. She tallied 18 strikeouts while allowing only three hits and four walks across both games.

Ramuno threw for 5.2 innings in game two against Iowa during Washington’s six-inning run-rule victory that led to the combined no-hitter. She finished with two walks and six strikeouts in that game alone. The San Diego native now holds an overall record of eight wins and two losses this season, tying for the team lead with 83 strikeouts and posting a team-best WHIP of 1.01—tied for second in the Big Ten.

Kaycie Burdick leads Washington with a .435 batting average—the sixth best in the conference—and has played in all but two games this season with thirty starts out of thirty-four appearances. Over last week’s four games (one at Loyola Chicago followed by three at Iowa), Burdick hit .526 (10-for-19) with seven runs batted in.

Burdick also achieved her first career home run—a grand slam—during the win over Loyola Chicago that ended in a score of seven to zero for Washington. In game three against Iowa, which lasted ten innings, she started by going four-for-four at bat—a personal best.
