Washington women’s tennis seniors Reece Carter and Erika Matsuda received All-Big Ten honors, the conference office announced on April 22.

The recognition highlights the achievements of both athletes during a competitive season. Carter was named to the first team, while Matsuda earned second team honors and was also selected for the sportsmanship team.

Carter has twice been named player of the week this season, most recently after defeating the fourth-ranked singles player from Ohio State. She holds a dual record of 17-1 in singles and 14-4 in doubles with partner Jermine Sherif. The senior from Canada has been a first team all-conference selection each year throughout her collegiate career at both Washington and Arizona.

Matsuda’s selection marks her fourth all-conference honor during her time at Washington. Playing at No. 1 singles, she holds a dual record of 7-4 this season and is 13-6 in doubles with partners Carina Syrtveit and Karolina Kozakova. Earlier this season, both Carter and Matsuda represented Washington at the NCAA Individual Championships in the fall, advancing to the Round of 32 in singles competition. Matsuda also reached the Round of 32 in doubles, becoming only the eleventh Husky to qualify for both events in one season.

Washington, ranked No. 23 nationally, will face Penn State as part of the Big Ten Tournament’s first round on Thursday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time. The match will be streamed on B1G+.
