Azalea Groleau made her collegiate debut in the 10,000-meter race at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet on May 8, finishing fifth overall with a time of 35:51.77 and recording the second-fastest mark in Seattle University history.

Groleau’s performance adds to her already notable record at Seattle U, where she holds the school record for the women’s 5000 meters and has top-three times in several other events. Her name is familiar in both track and cross country records for the university.

At the same meet, Seku Sanders ran a men’s 800-meter race in 1:48.83, narrowly missing his own school record by one-tenth of a second. Sanders had previously set that record last month with a time of 1:48.75 at another competition.

Seattle U athletes also competed at two additional meets over the weekend. At the Oregon Twilight on May 8, Zoe Tibbo achieved a season-best triple jump of 11.38 meters; she currently ranks sixth all-time for Seattle U with an earlier mark of 11.56 meters. At Portland Twilight on May 9, several Redhawks posted personal bests across multiple events including Osaze Williams (1:50.58) and Jeremy Posdon (1:54.45) in the men’s 800 meters as well as Roman Radecki (3:55.74) and Khalid Hirsi (4:02.82) in the men’s 1500 meters.

On the women’s side, six competitors represented Seattle U in the Portland Twilight’s women’s 1500 meters event; five achieved personal records led by Mila Tsai’s time of 4:42.09.

In total, Redhawks athletes set ten personal records during these competitions involving just nineteen team members over three meets held between California and Oregon.

The team is scheduled to compete next at Stumptown Running West Coast Twilight from May 15-16 in Portland.
