Jackson Hotchkiss led the Washington Huskies with two home runs as the team lost 14-4 to No. 13 USC in Los Angeles on March 22. The game marked the final matchup of the series between the teams.

The Huskies, now holding a record of 9-14 overall and 4-5 in Big Ten play, had their best offensive showing of the weekend despite falling short against USC. Hotchkiss opened the game with a home run on his first at bat, sending a ball 419 feet to left field at a speed of 115 miles per hour. He added another solo shot in his next appearance at the plate during the third inning, bringing his season total to six home runs.

Hotchkiss is currently averaging one home run every two games and leads Washington in several offensive categories including home runs (6), doubles (6), batting average (.455), slugging percentage (1.000), and on-base percentage (.500). He also ranks second on the team for total bases with 44 and third for total hits with 20.

Additional highlights from Sunday’s game included an RBI triple by Mic Paul that scored Alex Pearson from first base in the fourth inning, marking Washington’s ninth triple this season—tenth most among NCAA teams. Daniel Porras contributed an RBI groundout in the fifth inning that brought Braeden Terry across home plate.

On pitching duty, Gunnar Nichols delivered a notable performance out of the bullpen by allowing just one hit over three-and-a-third innings while giving up three runs. Carson Boesel and Jack Wade also appeared in relief after Hayden Lewis started for Washington.

Looking ahead, Washington will face Pepperdine on Tuesday in Malibu, with first pitch scheduled for 1:35 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
