Seattle University announced on Apr. 24 that guard Kaden Hansen has committed to join the men’s basketball team for the 2026–27 season.

Hansen’s addition is seen as a significant move for the Redhawks, following his strong performance at Saint Martin’s University in NCAA Division II. His scoring ability and competitive drive are expected to contribute to Seattle U’s future success.

“We’re excited to add Kaden to our program,” said head coach Chris Victor. “He’s an explosive scorer and playmaker who is coming off an outstanding season where he proved he can take over games. His ability to score, combined with this competitiveness, will translate well to our program.”

During the 2025–26 season at Saint Martin’s, Hansen averaged 18.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting over 43 percent from the field and nearly 36 percent from three-point range. He made a total of 77 three-pointers and scored at least 20 points in fifteen games that year. Notably, Hansen set a career-high with a 37-point game against Western Washington on Jan. 15.

His achievements earned him several postseason honors including NABC Division II All-District First Team, D2CCA All-West Region First Team recognition, GNAC Player of the Year—becoming only the second player in Saint Martin’s history with that title—and First Team All-GNAC accolades. Hansen also helped lead his team to a record-tying twenty-six wins in one season as they secured both regular-season and tournament championships before advancing to the second round of NCAA West Regionals.

Hansen started his college career in the 2023–24 season with seventeen appearances and six starts for Saint Martin’s University after playing high school basketball at Auburn High School in Auburn, Washington. There he was teammates with former Redhawk Maleek Arington and contributed to winning a state championship during the 2021–22 season.
