The Seattle University men’s golf team finished sixth out of 14 teams at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational Presented by L.A.B. Golf, held this week at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash., according to a March 31 announcement.
The tournament was notable for Kevin Li’s performance, as he placed third overall with a score of six under par (210). After finishing day one at one over par with an eagle and four birdies across two rounds, Li delivered a standout final round on day two. He shot seven under par (65), including two eagles and two birdies in his last five holes. This round marked the best by any Redhawk this season and set a career record for Li versus par, tying for the third lowest round in program history. Earlier in March, Li also won the individual title at the Nick Watney Invitational.
“That was an impressive final round by Kevin,” said head coach Marc Chandonnet. “It’s incredible to shoot a 65 on a U.S. Open facility.”
Walker Lamb and Burly Hildreth both tied for thirteenth place with scores of two under par (214). Lamb recorded an eagle and nine birdies, highlighted by his first-round score of three under (69). Hildreth competed as an individual and posted his college career-best round of two under (70).
Other results included Will Koch finishing twenty-third (+1 over, 217), Conrad Chisman placing fifty-second (+9 over, 225), Jacob Kang sixtieth (+14 over, 230), Jakob Balkovec forty-third (+7 over, 223) competing individually, and Ben Ragland fifty-eighth (+12 over, 228) also as an individual.
Chandonnet said: “We’re so thankful for a couple of fantastic days of good weather, the golf course was in exceptional condition and the staff at Chambers Bay is always first class.” He added thanks to event partners and volunteers who supported the tournament.
Seattle University’s next competition will be their final regular season tournament—the El Macero Classic—hosted by UC Davis from April 10-12.
