The Seattle Mariners announced on Mar. 23 a new partnership with Brooks Running to enhance the Microsoft Salmon Run, one of the team’s popular in-game traditions. The collaboration will begin with Opening Day and aims to bring new energy and resources to the mid-game event.

The partnership is significant because it connects two Seattle-based organizations and expands the role of the Salmon Run at T-Mobile Park. By integrating performance footwear, athlete programs, and training support, both groups hope to inspire more activity among fans while elevating a tradition that has quickly become a fan favorite since its introduction in 2024.

As part of the agreement, Brooks Running will provide custom performance shoes for mascots King, Sockeye, Silver, and Humpy. The company will also offer training support and coaching elements tailored to the competitive nature of the race. “This partnership is centered on the shared belief that every run counts,” said Melanie Allen, chief marketing officer at Brooks Running. “Together with the Mariners, we can inspire Seattle baseball fans and show how performance gear powers runners, players and fans alike.” Beyond outfitting mascots for race day theatrics, Brooks plans to include these characters in its broader athlete ambassador program.

Chris Voigt, senior vice president of corporate partnerships at the Mariners said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Brooks to bring the energy of the run into our fan experience. As two Seattle brands, we look forward to working together to strengthen our region through a shared belief in the power of sports.” The partnership also includes presenting sponsorship for Kids Run the Bases—a postgame tradition—connecting it with Brooks’ Future Run initiative that invests over $2 million annually in youth running programs.

A new Rally Shoe Cam will debut as part of this collaboration. This feature highlights fans raising their shoes overhead during key moments as another way to energize game-day experiences around running themes.

Looking ahead, both organizations expect this collaboration not only to enhance entertainment but also foster greater community engagement through sport throughout 2026.
