Josh Naylor hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth inning that helped the Seattle Mariners secure a 3-2 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on April 25, snapping an eight-game road losing streak. The homer traveled 418 feet to right-center and came off Naylor’s bat at 107.3 mph.

Naylor’s performance has become important for the Mariners’ lineup, as he delivered another decisive moment after hitting a walk-off in Seattle earlier in the week. He went 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk, but his impact was felt beyond just statistics.

Earlier in the game, Naylor drew a walk after fouling a pitch off his foot, stole second base without being caught, and scored on Dominic Canzone’s two-out single. Since joining Seattle on July 24, 2025, Naylor is now perfect in stolen-base attempts with a record of 21-for-21.

Manager Dan Wilson said about Naylor: “That’s how he plays the game. Running the bases hard, great at-bats — that’s Naylz.”

Seattle scored two of its three runs with two outs during timely moments at bat. Randy Arozarena led off with a double and scored on Cole Young’s single up the middle for their first run.

George Kirby pitched into the seventh inning for Seattle, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while keeping his pitch count low. “Just trying to stay aggressive and keep the game moving,” Kirby said. “Those quick innings help everything.” After Kirby exited following a leadoff single in the seventh inning, Matt Brash finished out that frame cleanly.

In relief appearances late in the game, Eduard Bazardo induced an important double play to escape trouble in eighth inning before Andrés Muñoz closed out the ninth despite allowing a two-out single that brought up St. Louis’ tying run.

Wilson said about his bullpen: “You look at our bullpen, that’s a big difference-maker. We’ve got guys we trust in those spots.”

The Mariners will look to build on this momentum as they continue their series against St. Louis.
