The No. 18 ranked Washington Huskies women’s beach volleyball team completed an undefeated run at the SMC Spring Fling hosted by Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California, according to a March 22 statement. The Huskies won all four matches over the weekend, opening with a narrow 3-2 victory against Saint Mary’s before posting back-to-back shutouts against the University of the Pacific and closing with another win over Saint Mary’s.

The team’s performance at the event highlights their strong form as they secured victories both in close contests and dominant displays. In their first match against Saint Mary’s, Ella Tyus and Zoe Pabarcus won in straight sets, while Sarah Wilcock/Mariana Tomasova and Alina Urzua/Avery Towne clinched key points for Washington. The Huskies followed up with a decisive 5-0 sweep over Pacific, including a standout performance by Tyus and Ellis Hay who won their match 21-6, 21-8.

On Sunday morning, Washington again swept Pacific 5-0, with four of five matches ending in straight sets. Zoe Pabarcus and Alina Urzua secured the clinching point early on before other pairs added to the tally. In their final contest of the weekend—a rematch with Saint Mary’s—the Huskies repeated their earlier success with another tight 3-2 win. The match was sealed by Katarina Pantovic and Emma Hahenaver after Tyus/Pabarcus put Washington ahead early.

Detailed results from each matchup show consistent contributions across different pairings throughout the tournament. With these wins, Washington improved its record to 12-8 for the season.

Looking ahead, the Huskies will take a break next weekend before returning to action at the Longhorn Showdown in Austin, Texas starting April 3rd where they are scheduled to face Houston Christian University, Texas, and Tulane.
