Noah Kenney led the Washington Huskies to a 7-2 victory over Northwestern on Mar. 27 in Seattle, opening their series at Husky Ballpark.

The win brings Washington’s record to 10-14 overall and an even 5-5 in Big Ten play. The result is significant as it marks the team’s effort to climb back into contention within the conference.

Northwestern took an early lead with a leadoff home run, but Kenney quickly regained control. The junior right-hander allowed only three hits across a career-high seven innings and struck out nine batters, setting another personal best. Washington responded in the bottom of the first inning with three runs, including an RBI single by Daniel Porras that brought home Braeden Terry. Sam DeCarlo followed with another RBI single before Porras stole home during a double steal.

The Huskies extended their lead in the third inning when Blake Wilson hit a triple that drove in two more runs. Ty Cowan added another run-scoring single in the sixth inning, rounding out Washington’s offensive performance for the day. Carson Boesel pitched two innings of relief, striking out two while allowing one run on four hits.

Daniel Porras led all hitters with three hits and one RBI, while Colton Bower and Blake Wilson each contributed two-hit games as part of Washington’s total of eleven hits for the game.

Looking ahead, Washington will aim to secure a series win against Northwestern on Saturday night at Husky Ballpark.
