Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, recently used her social media platform to address several pressing issues, including corporate consolidation, government accountability in high-profile abuse cases, and federal immigration enforcement.
On February 6, 2026, Jayapal promoted her latest podcast episode by stating: “NEW POD: I sat down to discuss my latest field hearing on corporate consolidation and the rising cost of food. Tune in to hear about my work on the Monopoly Busters Caucus! Watch at the link in my story or listen where you get your podcasts.”
Later that day, she commented on developments related to the Jeffrey Epstein case: “Last year, I asked FBI Director Kash Patel if he had met with any of the women abused by Epstein and his friends. He refused to answer. As we see more of the files, the DOJ is now saying it won’t prosecute anyone further. This is a disgusting cover-up from both the FBI & DOJ.” The post referenced ongoing public scrutiny regarding investigations into Jeffrey Epstein’s associates and recent decisions by federal authorities not to pursue additional prosecutions.
In another post on February 6, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies: “Trump promised to go after the ‘worst of the worst.’ Instead, he is sending federal agents to kidnap kids off the street as they head to school — sending them to prisons thousands of miles from home. How does this make any of us safer?” The statement reflects continuing debate over federal immigration enforcement practices and their impact on families.
Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
