U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has recently addressed several international and domestic policy issues on her social media account.
On April 11, 2026, Jayapal highlighted concerns regarding immigration policy delays: “DACA recipients are experiencing major delays in renewing their status. As a result, people are losing their jobs and facing detention and removal. This is unacceptable. I’m joining @RepChuyGarcia and @RepLouCorrea to demand answers from DHS.”
The following day, she criticized former President Donald Trump’s foreign policy decisions: “Donald Trump pulled us out of the Iran nuclear deal. And now, he’s launched us into an illegal war with no plan or authorization. It needs to end immediately.” This statement comes amid ongoing debates about U.S. military engagement abroad.
Later on April 12, Jayapal commented on U.S.-Cuba relations: “The US embargo on Cuba is the longest embargo in world history — and the fuel blockade is causing a greater humanitarian crisis for the Cuban people. We must work toward prosperity and democracy for Cuba, and to have real collaboration between our countries.”
Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
