U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on August 2, 2025, addressing issues ranging from data privacy to energy costs and foreign policy.

In her first tweet at 14:44 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “WA: @AGOWA launched a Data Privacy Survey to better understand Wshingtonians’ data privacy concerns. I’m glad AG Brown is taking serious steps to protect our community. Take the survey here: https://t.co/dIutpLf65l”.

Later that day at 16:29 UTC, she addressed rising energy bills by stating: “Wonder why your energy bill has been getting so much more expensive? Blame Donald Trump and Republicans. They chose to hike your rates so billionaires could get a tax break. https://t.co/zveCMKUh47”.

At 20:46 UTC on the same day, Jayapal commented on U.S. global leadership and foreign aid programs: “Trump and Republicans know that America’s presence and influence around the world is critical. Yet they’re destroying USAID and other foreign programs, ceding our global leadership to China. https://t.co/Oh1hoeWsWG”.

Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott as representative for Washington’s 7th district. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
