U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing issues related to the Department of Justice’s handling of Epstein case files and oversight challenges at ICE detention facilities.
On February 20, 2026, Jayapal highlighted her podcast interview with survivors Annie Farmer and Danielle Bensky: “NEW POD: I sat down with two incredible Epstein survivors, Annie Farmer and Danielle Bensky, to talk about the DOJ’s botched release of the files and how they continue to fight for accountability.

Later that day, she commented on a recent conversation with an ICE detainee: “I spoke to a person detained by ICE yesterday, and it was heartbreaking.
He is the caregiver of a young daughter, works two jobs, has medical issues, and has been in detention for over a month.
We must continue to fight for real oversight at these detention facilities. https://t.co/zXdzC42gQp” The post detailed concerns regarding family separation and conditions inside immigration detention centers.
On February 21, 2026, Jayapal reported difficulties conducting official oversight visits: “I gave prior notice and secured the necessary privacy release forms to meet with specific detainees.
Yet, the Northwest ICE Detention Center still blocked me from conducting oversight. What are they hiding? https://t.co/HvfNYzziUT“
Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
