Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has recently addressed several political and economic issues through her social media posts.

On September 4, 2025, Jayapal posted on X: “Trump’s illegal cuts to foreign aid, DOGE put your Social Security number at risk, tariffs blocked by a judge, and a court says fast-tracked deportations are unlawful.

Here are 3 bad things and 3 good things you need to know to stay informed and engaged! https://t.co/Ds1bf48Egg“.

The following day, on September 5, she shared her experience meeting with a group of women affected by recent events: “I had the privilege of meeting with these women this week. What they’ve gone through is horrifying, but their courage and resilience is inspiring.

They deserve justice and the American people deserve answers. Release the files. https://t.co/KXUG4zczO1https://t.co/KDHABewZT0“.

Later that same day, Jayapal commented on recent economic data: “Another bad jobs report — thanks to Trump.

In just the last 3 months: 10k construction jobs lost, 30k manufacturing jobs lost, and 51k business jobs lost.

Trump is ruining the economy. https://t.co/Xiwzg2wniqhttps://t.co/2YNQCC8anr“.

Jayapal has been active in national politics since replacing Jim McDermott in Congress in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
