U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on November 6, 2025, addressing both domestic and international issues. Her posts focused on the ongoing government shutdown in the United States and the situation in the West Bank.
In her first post of the day, Jayapal commented on the length of the government shutdown, writing: “Today is the 37th day of the Republican Shutdown. 37 days of Trump inflicting “maximum pain” on the American people. 37 days of missed paychecks, Republicans refusing to negotiate, and bullying from the President. Democrats will continue to hold the line to protect health care.” (November 6, 2025)
Later that afternoon, she addressed developments in Israel and Palestine: “I am appalled that the Israeli government plans to demolish Umm Al-Kheir in the West Bank. Palestinians have called this land home for generations. Any effort to expel them to expand Israeli settlements is a blatant violation of international law.” (November 6, 2025)
That evening, Jayapal reiterated her stance regarding healthcare negotiations amid political gridlock: “On Tuesday night, the American people sent a message: No more Republican attacks on health care. Hold the line. Keep fighting. Protect our care. Democrats are in DC, ready to negotiate. Republicans need to come to the table.” (November 6, 2025)
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th district since replacing Jim McDermott in Congress in 2017 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
