U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several policy issues on December 3, 2025, through a series of posts on her official social media account.
In her first post at 14:18 UTC, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party regarding health care reform efforts over the past decade. She wrote, “Trump and Republicans have been promising a new health care plan for nearly a decade. Yes, literally almost TEN YEARS. I’ve got an idea — and it’s a plan that actually exists! Let’s pass Medicare for All.”
Later that day at 16:27 UTC, Jayapal announced legislative action aimed at immigration detention practices. She stated, “Trump’s treatment of immigrants is beyond inhumane. That’s why today, I’m introducing my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act to phase out our use of private, for-profit detention centers & put in place protections for immigrants’ civil & human rights.”
At 17:50 UTC on the same day, Jayapal commented on economic conditions under the Trump administration by posting, “This is Donald Trump’s economy — tax cuts for billionaires, fewer jobs for poor and working American families.”
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
