U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, posted a series of tweets on December 9, 2025 addressing issues ranging from federal immigration enforcement to local weather conditions in Seattle.
In her first tweet at 14:29 UTC, Jayapal stated, “The American people have been clear: they are not okay with Trump’s cruel kidnappings and disappearances of immigrants across the country. Congress must hear their pleas to push back against this lawlessness and pass my Dignity for Detained Immigrants Act.”
Later that day at 15:37 UTC, she issued a public safety notice for Seattle residents: “SEATTLE: Heavy winds and rain are continuing throughout this week, with potential floods. Here are some resources and information on how to prepare yourself and your home: https://t.co/br0uSt3dQT”
At 17:14 UTC on the same day, Jayapal commented on recent deaths in immigration detention centers under the Trump administration. She wrote, “I’ve been notified of two more deaths in ICE custody in the last 24 hours — meaning that 25 people have now died in detention since Trump returned to office. That’s the most in more than two decades. The cruelty and inhumanity of this administration must end.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai, India, Jayapal is currently based in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
