In a post published at 00:12 UTC on October 7, Jayapal offered her congratulations to a scientific organization: “Congratulations to @isbsci on this incredible achievement!”

Later that day, at 01:41 UTC, she commented on former President Donald Trump’s reported intentions regarding the Insurrection Act: “Trump is threatening to invoke the Insurrection Act and send the National Guard to our cities — completely ignoring federal judges’ orders. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
