U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several national issues on her social media account on September 10, 2025, including justice for survivors of sexual violence, condemnation of political violence, and the ongoing problem of gun violence.

In a post published at 18:32 UTC, Jayapal called for accountability regarding sexual abuse allegations linked to Jeffrey Epstein. She stated, “We must demand justice for the women who shared their stories of Epstein’s abuse. We must do right by these women and all survivors of sexual violence by holding perpetrators accountable. I introduced an amendment to do just that — and the GOP wouldn’t even let it be debated.”

Later that day at 19:36 UTC, Jayapal condemned recent acts of political violence. She wrote, “Political violence should have no place in this country and is never acceptable. I fully condemn this.”

Addressing another pressing issue at 20:28 UTC, Jayapal commented on a recent incident involving gun violence. She posted, “Absolutely heartbreaking — my thoughts are with the families, students, and entire community. Today was yet another day in this country marked by senseless gun violence. We must finally pass legislation to end the epidemic of gun violence and put Americans’ lives first.”

Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
