U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on March 31, 2026.

In her first post, Jayapal commented on the recent ban of noncompete agreements in Washington state, stating, “I was proud to push the Biden administration to enact a national ban on noncompetes from the FTC. After Trump reversed this policy, it’s great to see Washington state stepping up banning noncompete agreements. This is a huge win for workers.” (March 31, 2026).

Later that day, she spoke out against conversion therapy and called for federal action: “Conversion therapy is a harmful practice that poses serious danger to young LGBTQ+ people. It has zero place anywhere in this country. This decision is further proof that we need a national ban.” (March 31, 2026).

In another post addressing legislative developments, Jayapal criticized a bill introduced by Republicans: “Republicans introduced a bill that is a thinly veiled attempt to give Trump unlimited power to use the DOJ as his own personal law firm. Congress must start enforcing our checks and balances — not hand him even more power.” (March 31, 2026).

Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Her academic background includes degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
