Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, posted a series of statements on her social media accounts addressing recent legal developments, holiday greetings, and concerns about immigration policy.
On April 1, 2026, Jayapal commented on the ongoing legal proceedings related to former President Donald Trump and the events of January 6th. Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017; prior to her congressional service she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in what was then Madras State in India in 1965, Jayapal is currently based in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
