U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent legislative actions and criticizing former President Donald Trump’s administration.
On September 19, 2025, Jayapal thanked several colleagues for their support on an amendment, writing: “Thank you @JoaquinCastrotx, @RepSaraJacobs, @RepDean, @rep_jackson, and @RepGabeAmo for voting for this amendment.”
Later that day, she commented on the case of Trevor Milton, stating: “In 2021, Trevor Milton was charged with defrauding investors. In 2022, he was convicted. In 2024, he donated $1.8 million to Trump’s campaign. In 2025, Trump pardoned Milton and the SEC dismissed his case. Corruption by Trump — plain and simple.” The post alleges impropriety surrounding a presidential pardon and subsequent dismissal of charges by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In another message posted on September 19, Jayapal described her efforts to address immigration policy under the current administration: “I hosted a Shadow Hearing yesterday to hear from Americans who have seen and felt the impacts of Trump’s incredibly cruel immigration agenda firsthand. This administration’s kidnappings and disappearances are illegal and must end.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
