U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent developments involving Meta, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and OMB Director Russ Vought.
On November 19, 2025, Jayapal criticized a court decision favoring Meta over the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). She wrote, “Yesterday’s ruling in favor of Meta & against the FTC is a judicial rubber stamp for monopoly power — terrible for Americans but profitable for the Big Tech Billionaires who run the company. Later that day, she commented on conditions within immigration detention facilities overseen by ICE. In her post dated November 19, 2025, Jayapal stated, “This is beyond horrific. ICE is responsible for the well-being of people in immigration detention and it is failing that responsibility miserably. Mr. Ge’s loved ones and the American people need answers immediately. https://t.co/6Gjk2wXNgy https://t.co/m5TVWNkIn4”.
On November 20, 2025, Jayapal called for testimony from Russ Vought before the House Budget Committee regarding his actions as OMB Director and his role in Project 2025. She wrote, “OMB Director and Project 2025 architect Russ Vought needs to come testify before the House Budget Committee. Between his unlawful actions to block Congressional-approved funding and the affordability crisis the Trump administration has created, I have a lot of questions. https://t.co/1mwCWja9Lc”.
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
