U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed recent incidents and legislative developments in a series of tweets on March 12, 2026.
In her first post, Jayapal condemned violence targeting the Jewish community in Michigan, stating on March 12, 2026: “Violence, hatred, and antisemitism have no place in our communities. My heart is with the Jewish community in Michigan affected by this violence. Our places of worship should be safe spaces, and I pray for everyone’s safety.”
Later that day, she informed Seattle residents about adverse weather conditions. On March 12, 2026, she posted: “SEATTLE: Overnight, many areas experienced heavy winds. For updates on road closures, power outages, and safety tips, visit:” followed by a link to resources.
Jayapal also highlighted legislative progress for domestic workers’ rights in Washington state. In her tweet from March 12, 2026, she wrote: “Great news! Washington’s Domestic Workers Bill of Rights has been signed into law to protect domestic workers and ensure they receive minimum wage and overtime pay. I’m proud to lead the national Domestic Workers Bill of Rights — let’s get it passed!”
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th district since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
