U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district since 2017, addressed several issues in a series of social media posts on September 9 and 10, 2025.

On September 9, Jayapal commented on recent events in Doha, stating, “Today’s attack in Doha shows the Israeli govt once again violating international law even as they continue to starve the Palestinian people. This is exactly why I support the Block the Bombs Act to stop supplying Israel with weapons to enable this.”

Later that day, she shared her meeting with the new University of Washington president: “So great to meet with new @UW President Robert J. Jones and welcome him to Seattle. I look forward to working with him to preserve the essential federal funding that ensures UW remains a top place for research, innovation, students, and faculty from all over the world.”

On September 10, Jayapal turned her attention to national politics and judicial matters. She wrote: “Chief Justice Roberts is letting Trump break the law & freeze nearly $5 billion in foreign aid. The Court is quickly losing all legitimacy. They’re a rubber stamp, bought off by right-wing billionaires, allowing an authoritarian to take over the country.”

Jayapal has served in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
