U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, addressed a range of issues in a series of posts on September 25, 2025, from public media funding cuts to reproductive health and local sports achievements.

In her first post of the day, Jayapal criticized recent budget actions affecting public broadcasting. On September 25, she wrote: “Trump and Republicans’ rescissions package stripped $1.1 billion in funding from public media — including our very own Cascade PBS. Local media is critical to keeping communities informed. I’m fighting to get this funding reinstated.”

Later that afternoon, Jayapal commented on access to abortion medication. She stated on September 25: “Mifepristone, the abortion pill, is safe and has been used effectively for decades. We have seen the results of restricting reproductive care — it means that women will die across this country.”

Jayapal also celebrated a milestone for Seattle’s Major League Baseball team. In a post on September 25, she wrote: “Congratulations to our Seattle @Mariners for clinching their first AL West crown since 2001!! What a year — let’s keep it rolling into the playoffs! “

Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously served in the Washington State Senate between 2014 and 2016 and resides in Seattle. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
