Rep. Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on December 19, 2025, addressing issues ranging from tariffs and healthcare to demands for government transparency.
On December 19, Jayapal criticized former President Trump’s trade policies, writing, “Thanks to Trump’s reckless tariffs, families are paying more this holiday season. The cost of everything from toys to tool boxes has skyrocketed, meaning less under the tree for too many working families.”
Later that day, she commented on legislative efforts regarding healthcare coverage: “Dems got 218 signatures — a majority of the House — on a discharge petition to extend ACA tax credits and save health care for the working families. Mike Johnson refused to bring our bill to the floor, instead sending us home for the holidays while Americans’ premiums go up.”
In a subsequent post, Jayapal called for full disclosure related to high-profile criminal investigations: “Today, the Trump administration must release the FULL Epstein Files. No missing pages. No documents blurred out. No redactions to protect rich and powerful men. Survivors and the American people deserve answers and transparency. By law, Trump must provide them TODAY.”
Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle.
