Rep. Pramila Jayapal, U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, addressed a range of issues in a series of posts on her social media account between May 29 and May 30, 2026.

On May 29, Jayapal commented on rising event costs, stating, “Ticket prices are out of control. The reason why has gotten super political. Here’s how: https://t.co/BaJREkgFhX”.

Later that day, she shared her reaction to the story of Wendy and her son Orlin, referencing U.S. immigration enforcement practices: “My heart breaks for Wendy, who was finally able to return to the US to bury her 3-year-old son, Orlin. We must never forget Orlin and how ICE ignored Wendy’s pleas when they separated her from her son. Family separation is cruel and it must be stopped.”

On May 30, as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month drew to a close, Jayapal recognized Councilmember Eddie Lin’s work: “As we near the end of AANHPI Heritage Month, I want to take a moment to recognize an incredible leader in our community: Councilmember Eddie Lin. Lin has spent his career dedicated to justice, pushing for investments in housing, and creating opportunity for all in our community.”

Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since succeeding Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, she holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
