U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, posted a series of updates on social media between March 9 and March 10, 2026, addressing local events and national policy concerns.
On March 9, Jayapal announced an event in Seattle: “TONIGHT: I’m hosting my 129th town hall in Seattle. If you can’t join us in person tonight, you can watch live here: https://t.co/Okqiiqsem7”.
The following day, she commented on rising gas prices in King County, attributing the increase to foreign policy decisions by former President Donald Trump. On March 10 she wrote: “Thanks to Trump’s illegal war in Iran, our costs are going up. In King County, residents are now paying a whopping $4.87 a gallon for gas. We need to put an end to this now.”.
Later that same day, Jayapal highlighted the experience of Wesley Powers, a U.S. Navy veteran allegedly attacked and detained by immigration authorities. She posted: ““I feel frozen, scared, and angry.” Wesley Powers, a U.S. Navy veteran, was attacked with a chemical agent and detained by ICE. Listen to his story. https://t.co/8x83SY980a”.
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, she is also an alumna of Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
