U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on July 24, 2025.

In her first post of the day, Jayapal called for transparency regarding high-profile investigations, stating, “Trump can try to hide evidence and distract all he wants, but the American people deserve answers and will not back down. Release the Epstein files.” (July 24, 2025).

Later that afternoon, she referenced legislative efforts with fellow lawmaker Rep. Rashida Tlaib to limit arms sales to Israel: “Earlier this year, @RepRashida and I introduced resolutions to block the sale of specific offensive weapons to Israel. We need to respond to these atrocities with restraint and the assurance that any government will uphold U.S. law and international humanitarian law.” (July 24, 2025).

By evening, Jayapal highlighted concerns about proposed federal budget cuts: “Trump and Republicans’ rescissions package will impact nearly every corner of Washington State.” (July 24, 2025).

Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
