U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of messages on her official X account on February 19, 2026, addressing congressional authorization for war, local engagement through town halls, and the need for accountability from the Department of Justice.

In a post made at 01:23 UTC, Jayapal stated: “NOT without authorization from Congress. The American people do not want another war.”

Later that evening at 01:42 UTC, she announced an event for constituents: “TONIGHT: I am hosting my 129th town hall in Lake Forest Park. Tune in live!”

The following day at 15:19 UTC, Jayapal commented on actions by federal authorities: “This is exactly the kind of accountability we need from the Department of Justice. It’s time to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott and previously served in the Washington State Senate between 2014 and 2016. She was born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in India in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University and later graduated from Northwestern University.
