Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has raised concerns on social media regarding recent actions involving the Department of Justice and members of Congress.
On February 13, 2026, Jayapal posted on X that “Pam Bondi showed up before the Judiciary Committee with a burn book that had a printed search history of exactly what emails I searched. The DOJ is spying on members of Congress. This is beyond unacceptable.” She expressed alarm over what she described as surveillance activities targeting lawmakers.
Later the same day, Jayapal called for further accountability in a subsequent post: “Every single one of these people need to be investigated—what they knew, when. Resigning is not enough.” In another tweet posted minutes later, she noted changes following resignations: “Finally some movement. This follows the resignations of Brad Karp and David Ross.”
Jayapal’s statements come amid her ongoing tenure in Congress since succeeding Jim McDermott in 2017. Prior to her service in the U.S. House of Representatives, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
