U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on March 24, 2026, addressing recent violence and humanitarian crises in Lebanon and Sudan, as well as critiquing U.S. budget priorities.
In her first post at 15:22 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “IDF advances in Lebanon have killed over 1,000 people, including over 100 children, and displaced almost a quarter of Lebanon’s population. These indiscriminate killings and the targeting of civilian infrastructure must stop.”
Later that day at 16:45 UTC, she highlighted violence in Sudan: “During Eid, a drone attack on a major hospital in Sudan killed at least 64 people, including children, nurses, and a doctor. This is a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. The United States must use our leverage to stop these atrocities and help save lives.”
At 18:32 UTC the same day, Jayapal criticized federal spending priorities with another post: “Enough money for forever wars. Enough money for more bombs. Enough money for ICE in our airports. But never enough for health care, childcare, or feeding hungry families. Thanks, Republicans.”
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal graduated from Georgetown University with a BA in 1986 and later earned an additional degree from Northwestern University in 1990.
