U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has recently addressed a range of international and domestic issues through a series of social media posts.
On February 10, 2026, Jayapal commented on recent developments in Syria, stating, “After decades of repression and brutal conflict, the Syrian people are finally free of the Assad regime. The U.S. must continue to use policy to support Syria’s new government through diplomacy and dialogue, not punishment and isolation.”
Later that day, she drew attention to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes and their concerns regarding actions by the Department of Justice. In her post from February 10, 2026, she wrote: “Everyone should read this letter from some of the Epstein survivors about the Department of Justice’s actions mirroring the ‘very dynamics Epstein relied upon’. The survivors deserve justice and accountability NOW.”
Addressing another global issue on February 11, 2026, Jayapal highlighted ongoing humanitarian challenges in Africa: “The Democratic Republic of the Congo is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with more than 16 million people in need of food assistance, and millions displaced. Trump’s gutting of USAID has only made the crisis worse.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate between 2014 and 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras), India in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. She earned her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1986 and completed further studies at Northwestern University in 1990.
