U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent events involving federal agents and broader issues facing Americans.
On January 26, 2026, Jayapal stated: “Trump’s administration is lying to our faces about what we all witnessed Saturday — a federal agent shot and killed a U.S. citizen on our streets in broad daylight. There must be a full, independent investigation.”
Continuing her commentary the following day, Jayapal wrote: “Two weeks ago, I brought 28 Members from 18 states to Minnesota to sound the alarm on Trump and Noem’s assault on the Twin Cities. This weekend, we saw another deadly shooting by a DHS agent. This must stop.” The posts reference concerns over actions by federal agents and call for accountability regarding recent shootings.
On January 27, Jayapal also addressed broader socioeconomic challenges in the United States: “The American people, and especially young people, see things that used to be guaranteed farther out of reach. In the richest country in the world, education, housing, and health care shouldn’t be considered luxuries.”
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in 1965 and currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
