U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who serves Washington’s 7th district, has called for accountability following the killing of Renee Good in Minnesota, according to a series of posts on her official social media account.
On January 10, 2026, Jayapal posted: “ICYMI: @Ilhan, @RepRaskin, @BennieGThompson and I led 156 of our colleagues in demanding accountability following the killing of Renee Good in Minnesota. The American public deserves the guarantee of a professional, unbiased, and thorough investigation.”
Later that day, she added: “What America saw happen in Minneapolis was not ‘self-defense’ or ‘justified.’ It was a killing of an innocent U.S. citizen by a lawless Trump agency. We need ICE out of our cities and truth, justice, and accountability for this tragedy.” (January 10, 2026)
The following day Jayapal continued her criticism: “The administration’s lies about the killing of Renee Good are even being debunked on Fox. We saw what happened with our own eyes. Stop with the lies and give us accountability NOW.” (January 11, 2026)
Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in India in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
