Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has publicly called for justice and accountability regarding the deaths of U.S. citizens in the West Bank and Gaza. On September 16, 2025, Jayapal used her social media platform to highlight these issues and her participation in advocacy events.
In a post published at 14:35 UTC on September 16, Jayapal stated: “LIVE: I’m standing with my colleagues, advocates, and American families demanding justice and accountability for U.S. citizen deaths in the West Bank and Gaza.”
Later that day, at 17:59 UTC, she referenced the case of Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, a U.S. citizen from Washington who was killed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) over a year prior. Jayapal wrote: “Just over one year ago, Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, a US citizen from my home state of Washington, was killed by the IDF. We still have no independent investigation and no justice.
Today, I stood with Ayşenur’s family, my colleagues, and advocates to demand answers and accountability.”
Earlier that morning at the Anti-Monopoly Summit hosted by @econliberties, Jayapal addressed concerns about corporate power in the United States. She posted at 20:15 UTC: “Great to join @econliberties at the 2025 Anti-Monopoly Summit this morning!
Corporate power & consolidation is out of control. Massive corporations & billionaires are only getting richer while working families continue to get screwed over.
It’s time to put working people first.”
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017; prior to that she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
