Pramila Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016 and currently resides in Seattle. She was born in Chennai in what was then Madras State in India and earned degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
