Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, has called for the resignation or expulsion of two fellow representatives and advocated for the removal of former President Donald Trump from office in a series of posts on April 13, 2026.
In her first post at 00:12 UTC, Jayapal wrote: “I am sick and tired of men in positions of power getting away with sexual harassment, assault and abuse. Representatives Gonzales and Swalwell should resign. Otherwise, I would vote to expel them.”
Later that day at 01:10 UTC, she addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Donald Trump: “The 25th Amendment, impeachment, demanding his resignation — we need to do whatever it takes to remove Trump from office.”
In a subsequent post at 03:54 UTC, Jayapal commented on Trump’s recent social media activity: “The deranged and disgusting post from Trump attacking Pope Leo should certainly help him appeal to the more than 50 million Americans who identify as Catholics. Perhaps this will convince JD Vance to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office?”
Pramila Jayapal succeeded Jim McDermott in Congress after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle, she holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
