U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017, used her social media platform on December 2, 2025, to address several policy concerns including government funding practices and the regulation of artificial intelligence.
In a post made at 18:21 UTC, Jayapal called for testimony from Russ Vought, stating: “We’re demanding that Russ Vought, Trump’s OMB Director and the architect of Project 2025, testify before the House Budget Committee. He has unlawfully blocked funding and created a massive affordability crisis across the country. Congress and the American people deserve answers.”
Later that day at 19:32 UTC, she commented on economic hardship facing Americans: “I think the word ‘affordability’ means a whole lot to the millions of Americans who are struggling to pay for food, rent, or health care right now. Democrats are fighting for you. Trump doesn’t give a damn.”
Addressing technology policy at 21:38 UTC on December 2, Jayapal wrote about AI discrimination: “Congress can’t just sit by as giant corporations use AI to discriminate against people applying for housing, jobs, or loans. We must act. Our AI Civil Rights Act will regulate these algorithms, root out bias, and put guardrails in place at every single stage of development.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a U.S. Representative since succeeding Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. She was born in Chennai in 1965 and resides in Seattle. Her educational background includes degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
