U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on April 11, 2026, addressing recent allegations against fellow Congressman Eric Swalwell and ongoing healthcare policy issues.
On April 11, 2026, Jayapal wrote: “I am horrified to learn about the allegations made by multiple women against Eric Swalwell. My heart goes out to these brave women who have suffered with this secret, thought it was just them, and now have courageously come forward—all sharing similar patterns of assault—to”. In a subsequent post made on the same day, she added: “This is unfortunately the same story over and over again of powerful men who think they can get away with anything, including assaulting women. We have to make it completely clear that this is unacceptable at any level from anyone, including those who hold tremendous”.
Later that day, Jayapal also addressed health insurance costs and policy proposals. She stated: “People are paying more for their health insurance premiums because Republicans refused to extend the ACA tax credits. We need to restore these credits to relieve the immediate pain, and we need Medicare for All.”
Pramila Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative for Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in 1965, Jayapal currently resides in Seattle. She holds degrees from Georgetown University (BA) and Northwestern University.
