Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, posted several updates on her Twitter account highlighting local sports achievements and recent economic developments.

On July 31, 2025, Jayapal congratulated a Seattle baseball icon: “ICYMI: Seattle @Mariners legend Ichiro was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame! Congratulations, Ichiro — and thank you for everything. https://t.co/KQkmWX5jp7”

The following day, August 1, she commented on national economic news: “The U.S. economy LOST 26,000 manufacturing jobs in May and June. Thank Donald Trump and Republicans.” Later that morning, Jayapal shared another post containing only two links: “https://t.co/jkaxnKibi2 https://t.co/gXaYWahVfk”

Jayapal has been active in public service since serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016 before entering Congress in 2017. She succeeded Jim McDermott as representative of Washington’s 7th District and resides in Seattle. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
