U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address a range of national and local issues.
On March 13, 2026, Jayapal criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to war decision-making by stating: “Trump is now saying that the war will end when he ‘feels it in his bones.’ This cannot be how a war that is wasting a billion dollars a day and risking the lives of US servicemembers is run. He must end this illegal and unconstitutional war NOW.”
The following day, on March 14, 2026, she commended actions taken by a local government body regarding immigration policy. Jayapal wrote: “This is an important step from the Shoreline City Council, which voted unanimously to pass this resolution to protect our immigrant neighbors. This type of innovative resolution is critical to stopping ICE’s lawlessness in our cities and communities.”
Later on March 14, Jayapal addressed legislative ethics with another post: “I have a bipartisan bill to ban Members of Congress from stock trading — with colleagues on both sides of the aisle. It is so important that we find these openings for bipartisan collaboration, even as we hold Republicans accountable for their refusal to protect our checks and”
Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate between 2014 and 2016. Born in Chennai (formerly Madras State) in 1965, she currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
