Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 7th district since 2017, recently posted a series of tweets addressing issues ranging from airline pricing practices to Medicaid cuts and political accountability.

On July 23, 2025, Jayapal criticized airline pricing policies in a tweet: “Airlines are charging solo passengers more than couples — just another example of big corporations and the billionaires that run them ripping folks off. It’s time for this type of corporate price gouging to end. Congress must act.”

The following day, on July 24, she commented on the controversy surrounding the Epstein Files and former President Donald Trump: “The Epstein Files are an embodiment of everything Trump does: lies, lies, & more lies. Whether it’s Medicaid cuts, tax breaks for the rich, or covering up the Epstein Files, Trump & his billionaire buddies will try and get away with anything — and screw you over while doing it.”

Later that evening, Jayapal described her participation in an advocacy event related to Medicaid: “Honored to join hundreds of advocates tonight to kick off a 60 hour Medicaid vigil — telling stories & sharing the impact of Trump and Republicans’ deadly Medicaid cuts. We will not give up. We will not stop pushing. We will keep fighting for Medicaid & for those who rely on it.”

Jayapal has been active in Congress since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 after previously serving in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle at age 57, she holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
