U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of tweets on February 17, 2026, addressing the legacy of Rev. Jesse Jackson and expressing concerns about the Department of Justice’s recent release related to the Epstein Files.
In her first post at 17:10 UTC, Jayapal reflected on the influence of Rev. Jesse Jackson, stating, “Rev. Jesse Jackson was a voice of morality and justice – a giant who inspired me and so many others to fight for justice and never give up. As a young organizer, I looked to him and his work building diverse coalitions as my inspiration for the way to build power for poor,”.
Later that day at 20:29 UTC, Jayapal commented on recent developments regarding the release of names by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with Jeffrey Epstein. She wrote, “Over the weekend, many of you may have seen that the DOJ released a list of ‘Government Officials and Politically Exposed Persons’ in the Epstein Files. This is once again the DOJ covering up the truth. Let me break down why.”
In a follow-up tweet posted moments later at 20:29 UTC, she elaborated on her concerns: “They’re covering up in two ways: 1. They’re lumping people like me and, for instance, Marilyn Monroe, with people like Lex Wexner and Alan Dershowitz, and even Trump, who were very much a part of Epstein’s ring. 2. And we believe they’re still leaving out the names of people”.
Pramila Jayapal has served as U.S. Representative since 2017 after replacing Jim McDermott and previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and currently residing in Seattle, Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
