U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who has represented Washington’s 7th district in Congress since 2017, publicly criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Pam Bondi in a series of posts on February 13 and 14, 2026. Jayapal’s comments addressed allegations of DOJ surveillance on Members of Congress and its impact on survivors involved in ongoing investigations.
On February 13, Jayapal posted, “I just sent a letter to Pam Bondi demanding that the DOJ stop spying on Members of Congress. Everyone — Independents, Republicans, and Democrats — should be outraged by this surveillance by the DOJ. It needs to stop NOW.”
The following day, she continued her criticism, referencing recent hearings: “Having the brave survivors in the room during Pam Bondi’s questioning was incredibly powerful. The DOJ has retraumatized these survivors, and I won’t stop standing with them as we push for justice and accountability.”
Later that same day, Jayapal added another statement: “I’m demanding answers from Pam Bondi about her spying on Members of Congress. Here’s a quick recap of the week:”
Pramila Jayapal has served as a member of the U.S. House since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously served in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, she currently resides in Seattle. Jayapal holds degrees from Georgetown University and Northwestern University.
