U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on her official Twitter account on September 30, 2025, addressing recent political developments and federal immigration enforcement actions.
In one post from the morning of September 30, Jayapal shared a brief comment: “This. https://t.co/ISPPVRouVQ”.
Later that day, at 12:53 p.m. UTC, she commented on remarks made by another lawmaker regarding legislative negotiations and partisan conflicts in Congress. Jayapal stated: “Republican Rep. Steve Womack is exactly right. This is what happens when Republicans do partisan recessions packages, break promises on agreements made, and slash agencies and programs unconstitutionally. Unprecedented. And @HouseDems won’t give in–we’re standing up to cancel https://t.co/sqSfMi10Zp”.
Addressing federal immigration enforcement later the same day at 2:30 p.m. UTC, Jayapal wrote: “As ICE continues to ramp up its lawless actions, kidnapping and deporting people from communities across this country, I will continue to hold them accountable.
This administration is tearing apart families, and we must continue to use our voices to fight back. https://t.co/MnNhNzjR7R“.
Pramila Jayapal has served as the representative for Washington’s 7th District since replacing Jim McDermott in 2017 and previously served in the Washington State Senate between 2014 and 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965 and now residing in Seattle at age 57, she holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
