U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, addressed a series of policy concerns in three posts on September 11, 2025. The tweets focused on healthcare access, legislative priorities in Congress, and immigration enforcement practices.
In her first post at 16:14 UTC, Jayapal commented on proposed Republican actions affecting healthcare coverage: “Good. Trump’s Big Bad Betrayal is going to kick millions of Americans off their health care.
House and Senate Dems must stand together and hold the line to protect working families who rely on the programs that Republicans have cut.”
Later that day at 17:26 UTC, she criticized House Republicans for their approach to pending legislation as a government funding deadline approached: “ICYMI: Today, instead of putting forward legislation to tackle inflation and lower costs for the American people, Republicans are wasting time and scapegoating immigrants — with 19 days left until a government shutdown.
I voted hell no.”
In her third post at 18:39 UTC, Jayapal raised concerns about U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detaining an American citizen and veteran named George: “George is a U.S. citizen and veteran — and he was still kidnapped by ICE and denied due process.
ICE cannot arrest, detain, or deport U.S. citizens — full stop. We must pass my Stop ICE from Kidnapping US Citizens Act immediately to stop these illegal actions.”
Jayapal has represented Washington’s 7th District since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
