U.S. Representative Pramila Jayapal, who represents Washington’s 7th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on November 18, 2025, addressing recent legislative actions and criticizing Republican proposals.
In her first post at 18:33 UTC, Jayapal stated: “House Republicans want to give Trump’s DHS nearly limitless authority to label any noncitizen as a terrorist or gang member — without any proof — and deport them within days. HELL NO. This lawless administration needs less power and more oversight.”
Later that day at 19:01 UTC, she commented on an upcoming House vote regarding the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein: “Today, despite all the cover-up attempts by Trump and Mike Johnson, the House will vote to release the Epstein Files. We must stand up to the pedophiles and the rich & powerful people who enabled them. And as I vote YES, I’m bringing survivors’ names with me to the House floor.”
At 19:44 UTC on November 18, Jayapal announced her support for releasing these files following a successful House vote: “I just voted YES to release the full Epstein Files. This passed the House — now it’s time for the Senate to do the same. No protection for pedophiles and the rich and powerful who participated, winked and nodded, or turned a blind eye. Time for justice and accountability.”
Pramila Jayapal has served in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Jim McDermott. She previously held office in the Washington State Senate from 2014 to 2016. Born in Chennai in 1965, Jayapal resides in Seattle and holds degrees from Georgetown University (1986) and Northwestern University (1990).
